2009 Project Goal:

Women’s Workshop: “We need help to establish a workshop for women to start a beadwork industry. Women are the main bread winners in our Maasai community."

Funds required- $1000 approx

Ongoing Projects:

School Supplies, Classrooms, and Teachers: “The pupils have increased. We will need more books and desks. Right now we are in shortage of both because we have some children who have no desks and books. We need more classrooms. The school helps children get closer to school and avoid going long distances to government schools. We need more teachers. The government does not employ teachers any longer. We need help to pay for the teachers.”

In addition, all the teachers live at the school and as the number of teachers increases, they will need additional housing facilities.

With Jacob’s goal of educating all the children of Amboseli, Enkongu Narok Primary School hopes to continue to grow each year.

Sponsor a Child: Sponsor a child to attend Enkongu Narok Primary School for only $50 per year. This will cover the annual school fees, purchase a school uniform and some supplies. Children from kindergarten to grade eight can be sponsored for one year or for their entire primary school education. Contact Scott Cohen for additional information about each child.

Other Community Needs:

Health Facility: “The community is suffering due to diseases (malaria and tuberculosis). The Maasai people are killed by tuberculosis for lack of treatment. Establishing a small health facility would go a long way in helping them cope with these problems.”

Solar Panel and Batteries: “This will help us charge our mobile phones. The lighting will help keep the wildlife away at night.”

Young Men’s Soccer League: The teams in the league need cleats, jerseys, and balls. The soccer league keeps the young men out of trouble and gathers them together so that Jacob can educate them on important issues.
